Tuesday 26 September 2023 Year 8 Football Team On Friday the Year 8 team started their football campaign this year with an impressive 6-0 victory against Minsthorpe in the County Cup. Despite the long journey to Wakefield, you could see the students were up for the game from the start. They maintained control of the match from the very first minute to the end, presenting a tough challenge for their opponents.Zach H took charge upfront and consistently posed difficulties for Minsthorpe's back four, who struggled to keep up with him. He received solid support from the midfield, working hard to retain possession and offer assistance whenever needed.Sam K and Callum E delivered outstanding defensive performances, cutting off any opposing attacks and leaving Jacob, the goalkeeper, with minimal work.It would be unjust to single out one student as the player of the match because each and every one of them delivered a fantastic performance. If you happen to come across any of the students, please congratulate them.Goals scored by:Zach H - 2

Monday 14 August 2023 How to train a dragon! An amazing day with fantastic students , no one believed they could do this when the day began but look at those results! The students learnt to carve cakes to create a cake pop mixture so there was zero waste which was then used to bolster the shape so even though everyone started with the same shapes no two dragons looked the same. They learnt to work with buttercream and ganache, to model, cover the cake, emboss an imprint to create scales, paint with powder colours and not forgetting the finalAirbrushing: a day that will not be forgotten quickly and one that they can take the skills home to create another cake. With grateful thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, as it would not have been possible without them.Dawn Butler At Dinky Doodle for the airbrushes.

Thursday 8 June 2023 Spanish Poem Challenge Mrs Bowen set Year 7 a challenge to rewrite a Spanish poem that we have been studying in class. The poem is called "Un hombre sin cabeza" (A man without a head), written by the Venezuelan poet Armando José Sequera. The poem lists all the things a headless man cannot do and therefore practises different Spanish verbs. The students really had to use their imagination! Here are some of their fantastic efforts.
