EPQ News Story

Yr 13 EPQ Presentation Evening 10.04.19

On Thursday 4th April, a group of Year 13 students completed presentations of their Extended Project Qualifications (EPQ).

The process began back in the summer term of 2018 with 60 students signing up to the project qualification but only the hardy and committed had survived.

The final 16 have shown real resilience over the past 10 months.

The concept of the EPQ is that they carry out a project of their choosing and work independently guided by a staff mentor. Most students pick a project around a topic that they feel will benefit them in their chosen field of higher education application.

The topic areas chosen show the great diversity that our students are interested in; ranging from Gender in Politics, Treating Leukaemia in the Future, and Language in Educational Institutions.

The students were exceptional on the night; the group started the evening feeling self-conscious and worried about whether they would cope; however they finished the evening on a high, much more confident and having conversed with staff, governors and attending parents, discussing their projects with deep understanding and real passion. They were a credit to themselves and our school - well done to all.

Thanks go to the parents and staff involved for being there to encourage and support the students through the process.
