Bingley Grammar School

Football Update

It was a busy week for after school football last week.

On Tuesday, 15 year 7 students travelled to Carlton Keighley for a football match. Many of them made their debut for the school team and performed exceptionally well. The Bingley boys convincingly beat their opponents, controlling the game from the start, with the final score ending 8-1, including three goals from Will G. Will Gr was awarded Player of the Match for his fantastic hat-trick.

Team sheet: Will G, Freddie S, Adam M, James E, Huzayl K, Abaan W, Amaan H, Majed M, Kais R, Charlie H, Abaan R, Jack A-C, Joshua B-M, George H and Hasnain N.

The Year 8 football team played two games this week. In the first match against South Craven on Wednesday, the weather took a turn for the worse as soon as the game started, with heavy rain and strong winds. Despite the challenging conditions resembling scenes from the Wizard of Oz, both teams managed a 1-1 draw, with goals scored in each half. The boys demonstrated impressive resilience and attitude despite the weather. A special recognition is given to Adam M, a year 7 student, for his standout performance playing for the year above.

The second year 8 game was against Dixon Alteron, and saw much better weather conditions. With six changes to the team lineup from the previous day and some students making their debut for the school team, they delivered an outstanding performance, triumphing 9-1. It was a proud moment to see the students representing the school positively. I managed to capture a stunning photo of the team against the backdrop of a beautiful sunset.
