Year 9 Boys Quarter Finals

On Tuesday 7th March, the Year 9 football team travelled to Immanuel to play their quarter final match after finishing top of their group/league.

The team started fantastically and within the first 5 minutes it was clear to see BGS were up for the battle. Following an Immanuel corner the team were fast on the break, Charlie R playing a delightful ball over the top to Jake G, who was then in a foot race with the keeper to see who could get there first, Jake did not back down so much so the keeper was forced into a mistake in missing ball, leaving Jake the opportunity to run the ball all the way into an empty net. Bingley 1-0.

The pitch was in shocking condition meaning it was hard for Bingley to play the kind of football they want to. The game became extremely scrappy but Immanuel never looked like scoring.

Bingley defended valiantly and looked to catch the opposition on the break however after a host of chances they failed to kill the game off.

With minutes left on the clock a big looping shot caught Riley K (GK) off guard, he failed to hold onto the shot gifting their striker with an easy equaliser.

The final whistle went and it meant penalties!

A great chance for Riley to redeem himself and that he did!

Bingley missed their first penalty but after that it was close to perfection!

Riley pulled off two saves denying them two penalties, leaving Stanley L the opportunity to send us into the Semi-finals! With the lads on the half way line itching to sprint towards him, Stanley took one deep breathe stepped forward and smashed the ball into the roof of the net. Pandemonium!

Bingley won 4-3 on penalties!

Through to the semi-finals!
