The BTEC Engineering Tech Award gives an understanding of the field of engineering and manufacturing, as well as teaching a range of practical engineering skills. Students develop skills that are transferable to most industries, such as problem solving, decision making, innovation, project management, team working and communication skills.
The KS3 engineering modules which are delivered in years 7 and 8 are designed to give a fun yet informative practical introduction to engineering. The BTEC Tech Award is studied alongside a range of traditional GCSE courses. Currently run over three years at 2 periods a week, this course has no exams but is graded based on a series of assignments that are completed throughout the course.
Progression:- Engineering is also offered at post 16 progressing to a Level 3 BTEC National in Engineering (Extended Certificate) which equates to one A-level.
Assessment
Year 7 & 8: End of rotation assessment, EWL and test score
Year 9 - 11: Internally assessed and externally verified Assignment work based on learning aims. Final component 3 is externally assessed.
BTEC is Assignment based. Assignments count from Year 9 to Year 11. The student’s scores accumulate to provide final level awarded

Every Wednesday, 3.00pm - 4.00pm – Intervention & catch-up club.
Monday - Friday, 8.00am - 8.30am - Access for Engineers and DT students by request.
