Qualification structure/details of assessment

DofE Sport group webOCR Sport and Physical Activity is a vocational course.  You will be assessed using a variety of methods, including formal exams, projects, case studies and practical assessment.

We offer 2 routes for students – Extended Certificate, in which you will complete units in Body Systems, Sports Coaching, Practical Sports, Sports Development and Sports Psychology.

Our Second route builds on the first route by adding 6 more units in Working safely in Sport, Health and Fitness testing, Sports Injuries, Performance Analysis, Organisation of Sports Events and Physical Activity for Specific Groups.

As part of the course you will also complete a variety of coaching awards including Rugby Ready, First Aid and Duke of Edinburgh. As part of the course all students will be coaching primary school pupils weekly as part of their on-going assessment.

This course develops skills that are important for employment and higher education both in and out of the sports sector; you will develop your leadership skills, communication skills and time management. If you are considering a Sports related course at University this is the course for you.   Many students go on to Higher Education, following routes such as Sport Coaching, Sports Development, Sports Science and Sports Rehabilitation.
