We have had to take everyone's safety into account whilst organising our transition offering whilst being aware that it is hugely important to give both the Year 6 children and their families a good idea of what to expect in September.
We are running two transition events this year with the purpose of providing both students and parents with information to enable a transition which is as smooth as possible. However, due to the current context and restrictions we are doing things a little differently this year:
Transition Information Evening Wednesday 7th July at 17:30
This event will be key to supporting the transition process and will give you all the information parent/carers and students need to make the move up to Year 7 much less daunting. This event will be in the format of a presentation from our Headteacher Mr. Weston and a variety of other key Year 7 transition staff.
This year, due to current Covid-19 restrictions, the meeting will take place via a Zoom meeting. The meeting link and passcode has been emailed to all parent/carers.
Please contact us on email@example.com if you have not received this email.
Transition Open Morning:
Unfortunately, due to the current COVID situation, we are unable to operate our normal school visits for our new students. To help our new students get an idea of the school site and how things work we are opening the school in a COVID safe manner on Saturday 10th of July. All parents should have had an email inviting them at a specific time to attend one of the tours.
The Senior Team and other key personnel will be conducting tours around the site and answering any questions you may have. We will be ensuring that we do not breach school COVID bubbles and facemasks will be worn around the site.
We will only be able to accommodate one parent/carer with their student to keep numbers manageable.
Parking will be available on site and each primary school will be allocated a specific time for their tour. Please do not worry if you are unable to attend as we will be delivering a full orientation programme for the students in September.
Finally, these are challenging times for everyone. I want to reassure you that Bingley Grammar School will look forward to welcoming your child in September and I have no doubt that our new Year 7s will quickly become an integral part of our school community. There will be induction events for Year 7 students on the first few days of school and all our new Year 7 pupils will be given a significant amount of time to get to know the Bingley Grammar School site, staff and school.
Finally, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any concerns or questions.
Mr Simon Greening
