Yr 9 Brilliant Club
Our Yr 9 Brilliant Club Scholar’s Programme has been extremely successful once again giving students an insight into University Life.
At the end of February, 24 of our Year 9 students attended the Scholars Programme launch event at Manchester University to kick off their Brilliant Club journey.
The day consisted of a tour of the University, lectures and group activities. As ever our students were a real credit to the school and they impressed their PhD tutors.
The group was split into their chosen specialisms and the students have been visited in school by their tutors for their tutorials on Tuesday afternoons.
Two groups have studied the topic ‘Turn up the music - Psychological perspectives on music in everyday life’ with PhD tutor Claire Castle and the other two groups have been focussed on STEM and looking at ‘From lab to consumer: how complex particulate products are designed’ with PhD tutor Laura Elliott.
All four groups handed in their dissertations before the Easter break. To complete the University experience the group have been invited to a graduation ceremony with their families on 13th May at Leeds University.
Well done to all our Brilliant Club students - you have all worked so hard and we look forward to reading your essays and hearing your results soon.< Back to all news stories
