Nature Journal Science Club

Following on from our Seed Bomb Making Workshop with Year 7s, our Science technicians ran another activity last week to tie in with Mental Health Awareness Week for our Year 8s, making Nature Journals.

Mrs Humphreys said,

"The idea was to encourage an interest in our local environment and engagement with nature, to not only discover more about plants, trees, birds and insects but to also motivate our students to get some fresh air, get active and reap the all benefits of being outdoors.

The students were provided with lots of different printed sheets of nature trails, bug hunts and tree classifications which they organised into four sections using staples and washi tape. They stuck on handles and made a holder for a pencil so that the journals were really usable.

Despite the weather being really kind to us on the day, we didn't manage a full nature trail but they have plenty of sheets to fill in when they are out on walks and hopefully, they should learn new things too."

Well done to everyone who took part and we hope you are enjoying time in nature and have started using your journals.
