Yr 7 Sponsored Walk

On Friday 28 June, 294 Yr 7 students walked 5km to raise money for the BRI’s Radiology Appeal.

Our students shared in a really positive experience walking together in groups enjoying the sunshine whilst raising money for such a worthy cause.

Our students and staff were joined by Ruth Tolley, Matron for Children’s Inpatient Services, and Leeanne Elliot, Consultant paediatric radiologist, who chatted with the students about how the money raised would be spent and what a difference it will make. The route took the students from school, into Crossflatts, past Crossflatts Primary School, back along the canal to the three rise locks and back to school on the main road.

Our students were in high spirits but behaved extremely well during the walk. Passersby commented on how lovely it was to see the students out enjoying the surrounding area and that they thought the Yr 7s seemed a lovely group of young people.

The sponsorship money is rolling in nicely but there are still quite a few students who need to bring theirs in. We plan to present a cheque to the BRI on Monday afternoon in a special assembly (and we think you'll be truly amazed - as we are - by the amount Year 7 have raised!)

All students will be receiving a LORIC award in recognition of their efforts to support this worthwhile charity.
