Yr 7 Enterprise Challenge

On Wednesday 18th December, our Year 7 students took part in an Enterprise event run by the NYBEP (North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership).

The NYBEP were joined by 2 volunteers from the construction firm Kier who came along to help judge the teams and provide support and a business view.

The students were put into groups and given a brief to complete a Chocolate Box Challenge.

The teams had to design a box of chocolates, work out the costings and RRP and design marketing materials such as a flyer and advert (complete with storyboard). The groups were given filling options from the pricing sheet provided and could choose how they wanted to package the chocolates with one of the main aims to be environmentally friendly.

All the students got really involved with their tasks, having decided on their specific roles within the teams (project manager, finance manager, design manager and advertising executives).

At the end of the session each group presented their work to one of the NYBEP team who marked them against their list of criteria. All the teams engaged really well with the challenge and our visitors running the event complimented our students on their excellent behaviour and enthusiasm.

Mrs Durrans, our Careers Officer, said,

"Everyone worked really well together in their teams and engaged with the activity. All the teams came up with some great ideas, but the winning teams were those who met the full brief: designing a great box of chocolates, making sure that the packaging was environmentally friendly and going the extra mile - one group even performed a song for the presentation! Well done to all students who took part in the challenge."
