Yr 13 EPQ Presentation Evening
On Tuesday 24th April, 35 Year 13 students completed presentations of their Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
The process began back in the summer term of 2017 with an amazing 93 students signing up to the project qualification but only the hardy and committed had survived.
The final 35 have shown real resilience over the past 10 months.
The concept of the EPQ is that they carry out a project of their choosing and work independently guided by a staff mentor. Most students pick a project around a topic that they feel will benefit them in their chosen field of higher education application.
The topic areas chosen show the great diversity that our students are interested in; ranging from Brexit and horror films, through to the risks of Caffeine and gender stereotypes in children’s fiction. The students were truly amazing; they started the evening self-conscious and worried about whether they would cope; they finished the evening on a high, much more confident and having conversed with staff, governors and attending parents, discussing their project with real passion and animation. They were a credit to themselves.
