Yr 12 Progress Days
On Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th July Year 12 students took some time away from lessons to take part in our two Progress Days.
As well as spending time working on university applications with our specialist sixth form tutor team, on Tuesday our Yr 12 students attended a presentation from a university ambassador who provided invaluable advice about choosing universities, writing personal statements, choosing courses, student finance and personal budgeting.
Throughout the afternoon there were meetings targeting particular groups of students including those interested in applying for Oxford or Cambridge, and students interested in careers such and medicine, dentistry, teaching and social work.
At our year-group meeting on Wednesday Mr Greening and Mr Brown talked students through what they need to do to prepare for Year 13 and beyond, and everyone took the opportunity to congratulate our new Senior Student Team: Poppy Aherne, Haris Ahmed, Masoomah Ahmed, Joshua Durrans, Laura Jagger, Heather Reay, Izzy Sharp and Fahim Uddin. Our new Head Boy, Haris Ahmed, and Head Girl, Laura Jagger, were also congratulated. Later in the morning students visited our careers fair where they took the opportunity to chat to representatives from various educational institutions and professions.
We are extremely proud that so many of our students have displayed such focus and maturity when considering their options after sixth form, and we are confident that they are in a really strong position to "hit the ground running" when university applications open in September. Students who decide not to apply to university will be offered one-to-one sessions with information and guidance to support them with their future plans.< Back to all news stories
