Year 12 Enactus Launch Event
Last month a group of 12 Sixth Form volunteers travelled to Asda House to take part in the Launch of this year's Enactus Next Generation Leaders Project.
The NextGen Leaders Programme for schools and colleges is a youth social action and youth social enterprise programme, which aims to support and encourage schools/colleges, teachers and students to focus on achieving better outcomes for both young people and communities.
The event was run by the Enactus UK Schools Programme Coordinator.
The students listened to talks from last year’s School programme winners and the University of Sheffield’s Enactus team, giving a summary of what they do and any advice they would give to this year’s teams.
Over lunch ASDA, Arla and George put on activities for the students to get involved with including upcycling clothes and virtual reality.
During the day the students were able to discuss ideas and how to start their projects with support from University students and staff members from ASDA and Arla.
Students on the Enactus programme will gain great employability skills and have the opportunity to enhance their CV and UCAS applications with extra-curricular activities supporting and working with the local community.
Mr Greening said the group had an amazing experience speaking with senior leaders from successful businesses and it was a great opportunity. Mr Greening went onto say our students conducted themselves brilliantly and they were "Inspired, energised and ready to deliver a community project!"
The group now have a lot of work to do before the presentation day in March next year. We are looking forward to hearing their ideas and seeing how our students develop throughout this process.< Back to all news stories
