Yr 12 Brilliant Club Launch Trip
On Wednesday 6th November Miss Pugh and Mrs Miller took our Year 12 Brilliant Club students to the Scholars Programme launch event at Manchester University.
The Scholars programme is an eight-week course that places university researchers (PhD tutors) into schools to teach university style tutorials to small groups based on their area of interest (Arts and Humanities or STEM). At the end of the programme students complete a final assignment which is marked in alignment with university expectations.
The launch trip included:
a tour of the University campus
a chance to meet and question current students
their first tutorial with the PhD tutors
The Scholars Programme is designed to help students develop the knowledge, skills and ambition that support progression to highly selective universities and work in partnership with 17 of the country's most selective universities including Oxford and Cambridge.
Some of the students who attended the trip thoroughly enjoyed the environment of Manchester University, and are increasingly interested in the prospect of attending such a university.
The tutorial sessions are now well under way and some great work is being produced - we look forward to reading the final assignments in January!< Back to all news stories
