Yr 7 Spelling Bee Regional Final
On Tues 30th April, Mrs Dean, Miss Fraser and our 3 in-school spelling bee finalists travelled to Sheffield Hallam Uni to take part in the Routes into Languages Yorkshire & Humber Regional Spelling Bee Final.
Huge congratulations to our three competitors - Zak, Ihsan and Juwayriyah. Our students were part of a group of 27 who reached the regional final from an initial starting cohort of 1916 from schools in Yorkshire & The Humber.
It was a very close fought contest, with a tie-break situation involving Ihsan, Juwayriyah and 2 students from other schools. The final results are as follows:
Zak Bramley - came 2nd overall for French and will be invited to the national final in Cambridge on Monday 1st July.
Ihsan Miah - came 4th overall for French and will also be invited to the national final in Cambridge.
Juwayriyah Mir - was in a heat for one of the top 4 places at the end of the first round.
We are so proud of how hard these students worked to reach this stage and how they performed under pressure in front a room full of students and teachers. They were amazing representatives of Bingley Grammar School and should all be very proud of their achievements.
