Bingley Grammar School

Teacher Training Tour

On Friday 22nd November Mr McGregor escorted a group of student teachers from Leeds Trinity Secondary PGCE programme into school as part of their teacher training tour of Bradford schools.

The group was introduced to our Headteacher Mr Weston who welcomed them to our school. Mr Weston explained a little about Bingley Grammar School and our Ethos. He pointed out how we work hard to develop positive relationships with our students to ensure they receive the best education possible. As a school we focus on the quality of teaching and smaller class sizes in core subjects. Mr Weston also explained how teachers new to the profession are supported and encouraged to develop to their full potential.

Next the group was split in half and given tours of our school by Mr McGregor and Mrs Miller which were followed by a presentation from our HR Officer Mrs Hillary, focussing on the recruitment and interview process. Mrs Hillary gave them lots of useful tips which should stand them in good stead as they start to apply for jobs later this academic year.

Finally Mr McGregor answered any last questions the student teachers had and then they were back on the bus to their next destination of the day, Dixons Trinity.

We hope we helped to make their secondary school tour enjoyable and informative and wish them every success with their PGCEs.
