Bingley Grammar School

Students Rugby Talent Spotted

logoTwo Year 9 students, Jim Churchyard and Callum Smith were selected to work on the ERDPP (England rugby development player programme) earlier this year. The programme is a partnership between the RFU (Governing body) and the Yorkshire Rugby Union. The aim of the programme is to identify and support the most talented players in each county and provide them with further skill and nutritional development. The boys attend training once a month at centres around the West Yorkshire region.

Both Callum and Jim took part in a 'clash of the counties' rugby festival at the weekend where teams from North, East, South and West Yorkshire battled it out to become champions. The West Yorkshire team came out on top and were undefeated on the day - well done boys!

Jim and Callum started rugby in Yr 7 at Bingley and continue to play for the school with coaching and support from Mr Swann and Mr McGregor.

We look forward to following their rugby careers. Next stop Twickenham!
