Remembrance Day

During the week building up to Remembrance Sunday our students have taken part in a variety of activities to raise money for the British Legion and remember the sacrifice people made for us in the First and Second War.

Year 7 Poppy making web

Mrs Greening’s Year 7 History groups have been learning about the importance and significance of the poppy and then created their own whilst reflecting on the bravery and courage of our soldiers who have died in a line of duty since WW1. The red poppies are a significant symbol of this day as they were the first flower to grow from the Battlefields and graves of soldiers.
Mrs Greening said,

“The concept of war can be incredibly heavy for children and difficult for them to comprehend, but the poppy can be a great place to start.”

We would also like to thank our Senior Student Team for selling poppies on behalf of the British Legion in form groups during BGS time.
