Bingley Grammar School

National Citizen Service (NCS)

National Citizen Service (NCS) is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for students in Yr 11 and Yr 12 that builds skills and confidence whilst helping them get ahead in work and life. It’s a fun, productive and inexpensive way to spend part of their summer holiday. NCS is recognised by UCAS and the experience is great to demonstrate skills to universities, colleges and employers.

"NCS aims to bring together young people from all different backgrounds in a common purpose. Offering new experiences it gives them the chance to take on new challenges, learn new skills and meet new people. This helps discover their own talents and realise their potential whilst having fun."  NCS practitioner.

The part-residential programme runs for approximately 3 weeks during the summer holidays. Each NCS place is valued at over £1,300 but due to government support it actually costs no more than £50, with financial support available if needed.

60 Bingley Grammar students signed up for NCS in Summer 2015 and this year all Yr 11 and Yr 12 students will have the opportunity to apply. NCS staff will be present at the Sixth Form Open Evening on Mon 18 Jan and they will also be coming in to a Yr 11 assembly on 29 Jan. This will be followed up on 12 Feb.
