Matrix Challenge Careers Day

On Wednesday 20th March a selection of Year 11 Computer Science students attended the Matrix Challenge Careers Day taking place at Leeds Beckett University.

This event was hosts by Cyber Security Challenge UK and was attended by 8 other secondary schools from the Leeds and Bradford areas.

The day itself allowed students to take part in a carousel of exciting practical cyber security activities throughout the day, with a focus on careers. Students got to meet representatives from companies such as BT and BAE Systems.  The Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Organised Crime Unit also delivered short seminar on legal and ethical opportunities in the cyber security industry. The day enabled students understand the wide range of pathways into cyber security, higher education, careers along with highlighting the huge demand for up and coming cyber talent.

The day was a very worthwhile event for the students and was a great opportunity to raise awareness about the threats of cybercrime. Students were able to see the real-world implications of what they are learning about in school.
