We welcomed Leeanne Elliot, Consultant Paediatric Radiologist, Ruth Tolley, Matron for Children’s Inpatient Services, and Radiology Sister Paula Farrell back into school. Everyone present were as excited as the students to find out how much had been raised.
Year 7 had taken part in a 5km walk which took them from school, into Crossflatts, past Crossflatts Primary School, back along the canal passing the Five Rise Locks, the Three Rise Locks and then returning back to school on the main road.
During the assembly the students were shown a series of pictures covering the walk. Everyone cheered when they saw themselves on the large screen.
Mr Brown announced the top 15 fundraisers (the top student from each form) who each received a certificate and prize from the BRI team. All those students will also be VIP guests in September when they are invited to visit the hospital. They will visit all areas including the Children's Ward and Education Suite where they will experience how Doctor's are trained. The students will also be able to see the Adolescent's Room on the Children's Ward which students from Bingley Grammar helped create the interior designs for in 2016.
The hospital staff thanked the year group and were so grateful for our efforts. The money raised will go to the BRI's 'Rays a Smile' Radiology appeal which plans to make a special radiology room for children.
Well done Year 7, your fundraising efforts will make a huge difference to the young patients at the BRI.< Back to all news stories
