East Morton Students Enjoy a Day of Shakespearean Drama

On Wednesday 23rd May, our Music and Drama department held a day of Shakespeare for the Year 5 and 6 students from East Morton Primary as part of their Arts Week.

We decided to focus on Macbeth and primarily the witches, looking at how they tried to convince Macbeth that good things were going to happen to him.

Mrs Oliver, Miss Mawson and Mr Byrne broke down the witches' dialogue explaining to the groups each line of verse allowing the children to fully understand the meaning of the words they would then act out.

Then with the help of some Year 7 and 8 Bingley students the groups worked on scenes from the play, using drums to add rhythm in one of them.

We saw the portrayal of some very convincing witches which was amazing and the children should be very proud of themselves.

Mrs Oliver, Miss Mawson and Mr Byrne would like to say a big thank you to our talented Year 7 and 8 Bingley students who helped out throughout the day.
