Christmas Shoe Box Appeal

Just before half term our Senior Student Team (the SST) attended year group assemblies to promote the Samaritan's Purse Shoe Box Appeal 'Operation Christmas Child'.

We hope the student's all came home talking about it, but just to remind everyone that wants to get involved and make a shoebox gift here is some information for parent/carers.

The shoebox appeal is an optional charitable activitiy which our Senior Student Team asked the students to get involved in. Students have been asked to fill a shoe box with gifts specific for a boy or girl living in poverty around the world.

We understand not everyone will be able to fill a box individually so the SST have suggested a group of friends or classmates could put a box or 2 together between them.

The students have been given leaflets with further information on the charity and lists of appropriate gifts to pack such as stationery, dolls, toy cars, deflated footballs and toiletries. To make the gifts that little bit more special we ask that the boxes are wrapped in wrapping paper, wrapping the box and lid separately (not wrapped shut as the boxes will need to be checked before they are sent off).

The SST are asking that all gifts are brought into school by Monday 11th November allowing time for the boxes to be packed and collected from classrooms ready for them to be collected from school that week.

We hope Operation Christmas Child will create a real feeling of goodwill around school as in previous years and that our students will learn a valuable lesson in giving gifts to underprivileged children in another country.
