Bingley Grammar School

KS3 & KS4 Awards Evening 2019

On the evening of Tuesday 16th July, many of our staff, students and their families gathered in the main hall for an evening of celebration.

The Summer Awards evening has become a highlight of the school year where we commend our students for their academic, sporting, musical and LORIC achievements.

Mr L Weston welcomed our guests followed by speeches from two Yr 7 students Maddie and Aryan.

Some of the awards presented were: Achievement Points, House & LORIC Awards; Foundation Governors’ Subject Prizes and Form Prizes among others.

Throughout the evening the audience was entertained by scenes from last year's school production The Greatest Show, and had the pleasure of listening to our special guests Arek Hersh and his wife Jean's inspiring talk about his early life surviving Auschwitz and the Holocaust. Arek also spoke about how special Miss Shah is and presented her with the Bradford Schools Secondary Teacher of the Year award which she was awarded earlier in the year.

Mr Brown presented Dr Frazer from the BRI peadiatrics team with a cheque from our Year 7 sponsored walk for the astonishing amount of £8973.44 (which has risen to over £9000 since writing the cheque) and explained to Dr Frazer and our audience how the whole of Year 7 had worked incredibly hard in raising the money. Dr Frazer was amazed at how much money had been raised and thanked the school explaining the difference the money would make to the Radiology unit which was being redesigned especially to put children at ease when undergoing procedures. In total our school has raised over £18,000 for the BRI Children's ward and we are extremely proud of our student's efforts over the 4 years.

The evening was rounded off by our Chair of Governors Mr Mann who praised our students for all their hard work.

Thank you to all our staff who organised the event and to our students and families who came along and made it a great evening. We would also like to thank Mrs Puddy and the Food department for the beautiful scones which were very much enjoyed by everyone.

We are extremely proud of all of our students and we hope everyone who attended the event enjoyed it as much as we did.
