Institute of Chartered Accountants' BASE
inter-schools competition

ica logoAt the end of February our Year 12 Business and Economics students gave a fantastic performance representing the school when they participated in the Institute of Chartered Accountants' BASE inter-schools competition.

Students were presented with a realistic Business challenge and worked impressively in their teams, alongside a mentor from the industry, to devise and present their proposals to a panel of ICAEW judges.

They were impeccably dressed in business attire, working cohesively in their teams, with team leaders managing and coordinating to ensure all were able to give polished presentations to a packed conference room.

They coped admirably under pressurised conditions when facing the panel - a tough bunch who grilled them on their proposals in the Q&A session, with all participants being highly commended by the Head Judge who commented that it was one of the strongest heats they had encountered this year, with judges finding it very difficult to call the top two teams.  He was also impressed that students had achieved in one day what would be expected in the final stages of recruitment into the accountancy industry.

A huge 'well done' to all those who took part. They are: Sophie Smith (Team Leader), Lucy Doherty, Lewis Peel, James Coates, Oliver Bentley, Morgan Wood, Charlie Rattray, Joe Hurdman (Team Leader),Charlie Rattray, Kieran Leach, Callum Attrill, Harry Beaumont and Ryan Newall.
