Bingley Grammar School

Artsmark Award

At the beginning of the school year our Creative & Performing Arts Department teamed up with Eldwick Primary School to take part in the pilot scheme for the new Artsmark Award.

The Artsmark is awarded for school’s provision in the Arts by the Arts Council, England.

We invited other schools to take part in the award forming a cluster of schools to support eachother on the journey to achieving the different levels of the Artsmark Award. We now work alongside Eldwick Primary, Crossflatts Primary, Saltaire Primary, Oldfield Primary and Beckfoot School.

We are currently the only cluster in the UK to be undertaking the award run by the Arts Council and Cape UK. Our work in Art, Drama, Dance and Music is being used by the Artsmark body as exemplar material for other schools around the country.

Bingley Grammar has already achieved Gold award and is heading for Platinum – each of our cluster schools are at different stages in the process.

Last month our cluster schools performed together at Beckfoot school with our Rock Challenge dance group, and many of our music groups showcasing their amazing talent. There was also a gallery of artwork from each of the schools on display for parents to enjoy.
