Bingley Grammar School

Staff Charity Walk

At the beginning of term five members of Bingley Grammar School teaching staff were nursing sore legs and sore feet after completing the famous Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge – and one of them raised more than £600 for charity.

The route to climb Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough is a big day out – 24 miles long and include 5,200 feet – 1,585 metres of ascent.

Most people complete the route in ten to 13 hours – our teachers did it within nine hours!

PE teacher Dave Swann raised over £600 for the charity – Rays of Hope liver research fund.

Others taking part were Matt Atkinson, Matt Langan, Dave Morse, Alasdair Wilson and his wife Christina.

They all met at the Golden Lion pub at Horton-in-Ribblesdale for an 8am start (on Saturday 17 September) and returned there tired, and a little sore, but with a great sense of satisfaction after conquering three famous Yorkshire peaks.
