We are a Computing Hub School
We are delighted to have been awarded official Computing Hub status by the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE), in order to provide support for primary and secondary computing teachers in schools in the area.
We are thrilled to take part in such a prestigious national project (as one of only 23 schools nationally) that shows the government’s commitment to closing the skills gap for students across the country.
Our Computing team went through a rigorous selection process demonstrating their expertise, enthusiasm and commitment to computing education becoming the only lead hub school in West Yorkshire!
The National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) believes every child should have an inspirational, world-class education in computing.
The aim is to increase the number of pupils in schools and colleges who study computer science at GCSE, AS and A level, particularly girls and in disadvantaged areas, and ensure that there is a strong pipeline of digital skills.
As an NCCE Computing Hub, we are very much looking forward to supporting schools and colleges within the region to ensure that all young learners (including our own at Bingley Grammar!) have access to excellent Computer Science provision, to improve their future prospects.
Preparations have started this term (Autumn 2019) to put in place the necessary groundwork to commence delivery of locally-based CPD no later than spring term next year (2020).
