Zoni in Yr 7 Taekwondo

Taekwondo Gold Medal

Zoni practices at her club, Strike in Keighley twice a week and has progressed to a blue belt (only 4 away from a black belt).

Last weekend Zoni took part in an inter-club competition and won Gold in the 'pairs pattern'. Zoni loves her sport and we look forward to following her progress - well done Zoni!

Jenny Yr 11 Hair Cut Off For Charity web

Jenny raised money and donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust

Last week Jenny took the brave step in getting her long hair cut for charity. Jenny raised money in the build up to the hair cut and also donated her hair so that a child suffering from hair loss due to cancer treatment can be given a real hair wig. 

Jenny had her hair cut at The Hair Company in Keighley and we are very proud of her selfless act for charity.

Isobelle has been cast as the lead role in Stagecoach's production of Alice in Wonderland

Congratulations to Isobelle who has been cast as Alice in a production organised by her drama group Stagecoach. Isobelle attends Stagecoach every Saturday and is really enjoying rehearsals for the show which will be on in December. Isobelle has 74 lines to learn so she has her work cut out but we are sure she will be amazing!

Isobelle has also recently been cast as 'Young Charity' in our upcoming school production, The Greatest Show. We look forward to seeing Isobelle and all our talented students performing later in the school year.

Silver Medal at the English Schools Diving Competition

Massive congratulations to Koben who competed in the English Schools Diving Competition at the Olympic pool in London last weekend (9th & 10th Dec). Koben won silver competing in the Boys 1 Metre springboard event where he scored 191.40 points for 5 dives beating his personal best by 50 points! Koben and the North East Division went on to win the team trophy.

Koben has been diving for three years and trains 8 times a week both in the pool, and on strengthening and conditioning – that’s 21 hours a week!

Recently he competed at the Irish National Diving championships in Dublin where he dived against 2 recent Olympic competitors and other competitors ranging from 12 to 24 years. He also competed at the Scottish National Diving championships where he finished 5th with a new personal best score of 348.45. Koben was the youngest competitor in Edinburgh competing against 15 / 16 year olds.

Koben is also due to compete in Eindoven in the Netherlands in January at the Pieter van den Hoogenband swimming stadium. We look forward to hearing more about Koben’s diving career and wish him luck in his future competitions.

Irish Open Diving Championships

Good luck to Georgina who is set to compete in the Irish Open Diving Championships this weekend!
Georgina started diving about a year ago and now trains for 2 hours at Shipley pool four times a week. Georgina told us " When I am older I want to become a professional diver and possibly compete in the Olympics - I would really like to meet Tom Dayley." 
Georgina is looking forward to learning new dives and going to more competitions - and we are looking forward to hearing about them.

Lyric writing prize at Ilkley Literature Festival

Over the weekend Emily Higgins, in Yr 8, took part in "Words Fest" as part of Ilkley Literature Festival. Emily was involved in screen writing and lyric writing workshops and met the author Juno Dawson. At the end of the workshops, Emily performed her work on stage and won a prize for her lyric writing.
Well done to Emily for taking part in the event and we look forward to reading your award-winning lyrics.

Jessica in Year 7, 9.10.17

Freestyle Disco Dancing Competition

Over the weekend Jessica, in Year 7, competed in a freestyle disco dancing competition in Hindley, Wigan. Dancers from many dance schools attended and Jessica did extremely well collecting a trophy in all the four sections she entered.
Jessica came 4th for her solo dance and also in her couples dance. She was 6th in the rock and roll section and 7th in the slow dance.
Well done to Jessica for her dedication to her dance and success in the competition!

Army Cadet Force International Shooting Competition

Well done to Willow in Year 11 who, in July, was invited to take part in the Inter Services Cadet Rifle Meeting Bisley 2017. Willow was selected to represent Yorkshire North and West Army Cadet Force in this prestigious target rifle shooting competition which Second Lieutenant Smith said was based on her dedication and talent for target shooting.

Tom Cycling Yr 11 web

During the summer break Yr 10 student Tom competed in the Yorkshire Regional Time Trial Championships at the newly-opened Brownlee Centre in North Leeds as part of his team the Bronte Tykes. Tom did brilliantly and won bronze in the U15 Boys category, well done Tom!
