Parents & Carers
Parents and Carers are important at Bingley Grammar. Throughout the year, parents are often invited to attend a variety of events here in school such as our musical and dramatic performances, our functions and, in particular, our annual Awards Evening to celebrate student achievement.
We aim to keep in regular contact with parents by newsletter and, where individual concerns need to be addressed, by telephone, text, email, letter and informal meetings. Parents' opinions on key issues in School are sought by means of periodic questionnaires.
Each student, with his or her parents, has an opportunity to meet some of the staff informally at an information giving evening and also their form tutor prior to starting at school. Thereafter, one or more parent consultation session is organised annually (depending on the year group). For existing students, Launch Evenings are held by year group in September for all parents. These are held in addition to those aimed specifically at parents whose children are new to the school, or to our Sixth Form. Throughout the year there are also other events aimed at providing specific information where appropriate, for example information and guidance on options choices and careers.
In 2014 our school was awarded a Gold Standard SSAT (Specialist Schools and Academies Trust) award for Parent Engagement – we are extremely proud of this award as it proves how we continuously strive to keep families involved in their children’s learning journey.
Financial Assistance for Parents/Carers from our Foundation Governors:
Each year our Foundation Governors award families with low disposeable income with financial assistance to go towards the cost of uniform, travel, educational resources and incidental costs involved with the education of our students. These awards are disbursed a few weeks into the Autumn term, on a means-tested basis. If you feel you would be eligible for an award for the next academic year, please download the letter and form below, fill it in and return it to our office manager Mrs Parker by Monday 2nd October 2017:
