Parent Focus Group
You may have heard of the Parent Focus Group before, but do you know what it actually does?
"The principle aim of the Parent Focus Group is to enhance children's well-being and educational success through strong parental involvement. We seek to empower parents to represent the interests of their children."
Comprising both parents and Bingley Grammar School Staff, the Parent Focus Group acts as a voice for all parents and carers within school. It plays both an advisory and consultative role, providing a mechanism for discussing issues that affect the school community and bringing them to the attention of the Leadership Team. The group has already been a driving force in instigating Year Group Launch Evenings, parent-friendly materials on modular exams, curriculum information for parents and revision evenings, to name but a few.
"The Parent Focus Group welcomes contributions from all members of the school community: Parents, Carers, Governors, Staff and Students. We value input from as broad a range of viewpoints and experiences as possible,so contributions at meetings, by email or by letter to school are always welcome."
The Group meets once every half term and dates are advertised in advance via the school email newsletter. If you have any issues that you would like to raise at these meetings, please do not hesitate to contact us, either by letter or by emailing:
"The Parent Focus Group endeavours to enhance the school community and school facilities by fundraising for a range of resources."
Of course every school can benefit from additional funds and the various departments within school have a wish list of items they would like to ask the Parent Focus Group to fund or contribute towards. We do organise occasional fundraising events, such as the Quiz & Tapas Night held last October, so we would ask you to look out for these and help by supporting them.
Next Meeting: 20 September 2017 (TBC), 6:45 - 8:15pm.
Meet at school in the main reception.
